Montserrat's Weather & Climate
Montserrat have a climate that is consider subtropical, tempered by trade winds. There is little climatic
variation throughout the year. Heaviest rainfall occurs between July and November.
Montserrat the "Emerald Isle of the Caribbean" can be found in the Leeward Islands, in the northern end of the
Lesser Antilles archipelago. Owing to its Caribbean location, visitors can expect Montserrat weather that is warm,
tropical weather for most of the year. Temperatures don't vary much from the summer to winter seasons – the
Caribbean island of Montserrat maintains a warm 76 to 88°F (24 to 32°C) temperature pretty much all year. Cool
breezes from the tropical trade winds blow almost constantly from the sea or from the mountains, providing some
comfort from the tropical heat.
One of the unique geologic feature of the Caribbean island of Montserrat is that it has an active volcano, The
Soufriere Hills Volcano. Regularly, the volcano covers the island with a dusting of ash, referred to by
Monterratians as "gray snow". While the volcano considered "active", tourists shouldn't worry that they'll find
lava flowing outside their hotel room: the cities and villages of Montserrat are built well away from the
volcano.
