The Punta Cana International airport is a commercial airport, in Punta Cana, which is located on the eastern
section of the Dominican Republic. The airport, which is the busiest airport in the country, has open-air
terminals, with their roofs covered in palm fronds, equipped with restaurants and bars. Local craft can be
purchased from a small variety of craft shops and located just across from the airport is a mall offering a wide
variety of products and services from renowned national and international brands. The airport caters not only to
international flights but also to domestic flights. The carriers that arrive at the Punta Cana International
airport include, British Airways, American Airlines, United Airways, Air Canada, Spirit Airways and Continental
Airlines.
Las Américas International Airport The Las Américas International Airport
is the Dominican Republic’s largest international airport and is located in Punta Caucedo, near
Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. Recent upgrading has seen the expressway leading from Santo Domingo
to the airport was expanded and modernized, allowing for quicker and easier access to the airport.
A new terminal was also completed and opened for operations, having four gates with boarding
bridges, an air-conditioning system, and maintenance facilities for aircraft. Similar to the Punta
Cana International Airport a host of world recognized international carriers traffic at this
airport.
Gregorio Luperón International Airport/Puerto Plata Airport The
Gregorio Luperón International Airport is located in Puerto Plata, a town in the northern region of
the Dominican Republic. This is Dominican Republic's third busiest airport, after Punta Cana
International Airport and the Las Américas International Airport. The airport terminal houses a
bank, a bureau de change, ATMs and a post office and there are also restaurants, fast food outlets
and bars serving snacks and hot and cold drinks. Souvenir shops are also present and also
duty-free shops selling tobacco, alcohol, perfumes etc.
Cibao International Airport
The Cibao International Airport is located in Santiago de los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic's
second largest city. This airport has a modern terminal with six gates and some of the most
advanced airport facilities in the country. Plans for the expansion of this airport is being
discussed which would include additional gates and baggage handling areas as well as expanding the
taxiway.
María Montez International Airport
The María Montez International Airport is an international airport located in the
southwestern provine of Barahona, Dominican Republic. The airport is named after the late actress
Maria Montez, who was born in the province of Barahona.
La Isabela International Airport The La Isabela International Airport is
located in Santo Domingo and serves caters primarily to domestic flights but also serves as a hub
for international flights to other Caribbean islands.
La Romana International Airport The airport is located near the
tourist town of La Romana on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. The airport is
served by flights from the USA and charter flights from Europe and has a single, modern terminal
building inspired by the design of old sugar mills.
