Some useful information from Hotel Caravelle
Internet Access: Bring your laptop or other wireless device, if you wish, to check your email
by the pool — wireless high speed internet access is available at no additional cost. Or, visit
one of several internet cafés, one is located within our own Caravelle Arcade.

Electricity: Electric current is the same as the mainland United
States-110 volts—and adapters are not needed for American appliances that plug in. European appliances will
require adapters. Power fluctuations occur now and then, so you may want to bring a surge protector for your
laptop.
Currency: American dollars and coins are accepted everywhere in
the United States Virgin Islands. Major credit cards and traveler's checks usually can be used in shops and
restaurants. We can direct you to bank machines nearby. FirstBank,Scotia Bank and the V.I. Community Bank have
offices within walking distance of the Hotel Caravelle. An American Express office is located within our own
Caravelle Arcade.
Drinking water: Our drinking water is safe, but bottled water is
available for those who prefer to use it when they travel. We will provide one large bottle of drinking water
to your room upon check-in. Additional water is available for purchase.
Cell phones: Most cell phone users will find good reception from
anywhere in the hotel. Cellular service providers are Cingular, Sprint, and local Virgin Islands provider
Innovative. We recommend you check with your plan provider for coverage to expect while here.
Places of Worship: We maintain a list of churches within walking
or driving distance and can provide you with details before you arrive. St. Croix has churches representing
these faiths: Catholic, Anglican, Moravian, Lutheran, Jehovah's Witnesses, Latter Day Saints, Baptist,
Methodist, and Seventh Day Adventist. Several historically-significant Christiansted churches were built in the
18th century. There is one reform Jewish synagogue on St. Croix.
Hair dryers: Guests are invited to bring their own personal care
appliances such as hair dryers, curling irons, and electric razors. Bathrooms have American-style outlets and
voltage. European appliances will require adapters.
Passports and Visas: The United States Depart of State advises on
their web site that U.S. citizens traveling between the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands
will continue to be able to use established forms of identification to board flights and for entry.
If you, or someone you are traveling with, do not have a passport, it is required that you present a government
issued identification (Drivers License, ID card) as well as an original copy of your birth certificate (with a
raised seal) as proof of citizenship. A social security card will not suffice.
However, a passport is recommended for greatest ease of travel, especially since our visitors sometimes decide
to travel to the nearby British Virgin Islands when they are in this region.
The State Department advises: If traveling outside the United States or a U.S. territory, a passport or other
secure document will be required. For example, a person may travel to and from the United States to the U.S.
Virgin islands without a passport or other secure document, but under proposed regulations, a passport or other
secure document would be required to re-enter the U.S. Virgin Islands from the British Virgin Islands or
another country as of January 2007.
If you are not a U.S. citizen but plan to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands, a passport from your country of
origin is required. Please investigate any other needed documentation before you travel.
Taxes: There is no sales tax in the USVI, which makes dining out and shopping in our duty-free stores even more
enjoyable-the price you see is the price you pay. The Government of the Virgin Islands has an 8% hotel room tax
which we are required to add to your hotel rate.

Henry Rohlsen Airport aerial viewAirport Arrivals: We recommend you take a taxi from the airport to the Pink
Fancy Hotel—drivers know our location and can get you here quickly and safely. Depending on arrival schedules,
many of our guests find that they do not need cars immediately. It's a simple matter to arrange a car rental
later when you are settled, oriented, and ready to drive, on the left side of the road, to explore the island.
When you arrive at St. Croix's modern airport, you will find a taxi dispatcher at a booth just outside the
baggage claim area. A fare of $15-$20 from the airport to the Pink Fancy hotel is for one to two persons; the
total price will increase for three or more. Round-trip fares are double the one way fare. The trip from the
airport takes approximately 20 minutes. The Taxi Association provides a helpful chart of fares to other points
on the island.
St. Croix Taxi Association: Toll free (866) 778-1045, local:

Car Rentals: The Hotel Caravelle has a secure parking lot for guests of the hotel. If you plan to explore St.
Croix beyond Christiansted, we recommend you rent a car. Ask for our recommendation when booking.
Exit the airport and turn left, staying in the left lane of the
two-lane road for about two miles. Turn right at the stoplight onto the four-lane Route 66 (Melvin Evans
Highway.) Be sure to stay on the LEFT side of the median when you turn onto the divided highway.
Drive on Rte. 66 through two traffic lights. On the right you will notice the large HOVENSA oil refinery
complex. As you approach the third traffic light at a large intersection, stay in the center lane and continue
straight ahead through the light. Sunny Isle Shopping Center will be on your left.
Less than a mile ahead, turn right on Route 70—this road, not well marked, will have several turns, and your
lane has the right of way.
First, bear left at an intersection. Further along, bear right at a medical center building and then bear to
the left at the end of that block. You will approach a fork-take the right road.
As you go down a gradual hill, reach a traffic light (Intersection of 70 and 75.) Turn right onto Route 75 and
enter Christiansted on King Street, passing a large church on the right and many businesses on both sides of
the road.
At the bottom of the hill, your road (King Street) will become one way as it crosses Market Street at Sunday
Market Square. Continue until you come to Queen Cross Street. Turn left and in the 2nd block you will see the
entrance to our parking lot.
Seaplane Arrivals: Seaborne Airlines offer daylight service from
our neighboring ports of call—Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas and old San Juan on Puerto Rico—and provide a
quintessential tropical travel experience.

Seaborne Airlines: Toll-free 888 359 8687, local: 340-773-6442
